Thermal Insulation

The thermal insulation means all the techniques used to limit heat transfer between a hot medium and a cold medium. A heat exchange occurs between two media when there is a temperature difference between the two environments. Heat is propagated from the hot medium to the cold medium by means of conduction, radiation, convection or by the simultaneous action of one or more of these phenomena.
The purpose of thermal insulation is to reduce or even exclude heat exchanges between two bodies of different temperatures. It may be to keep the heat present inside a house or keep it cold in a refrigerator. This involves interposing an insulating material between the hot medium and the cold medium. This material generally called "heat insulator" can be a simple dry layer of air has even the air gap between the two environments

TYPE OF THERMAL INSULATIONS

Duct Insulation

The heating and cooling systems are designed for maximum energy efficiency, but the duct work that transports the hot or cool air has not been rationalized for years. Metal ducts provide no insulation value for conditioned air between your HVAC system and the room. As air travels from the HVAC unit through the ducts some of it leaks through poorly sealed joints.

Secondly, the conditioned air begins to lose its temperature - especially on longer runs of duct. The result of these two situations is depressed HVAC efficiency. Insulating ducts in unconditioned areas of the home can help reduce space heating and cooling energy costs and increases indoor comfort. In humid climates, properly installed duct insulation can also decrease moisture condensation on metal ducts.

Copper Pipe Insulation

Copper pipes are lines that carry the refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser coils and through the compressor and expansion device. The larger line usually carries a cool gas and it should be insulated. The copper pipe has excellent thermal conductivity and if it is properly insulated the energy loss will be less and improve indoor comfort.

FLOOR INSULATION

Majorly floor insulation is used in upper-floors between heated and unheated areas. This kind of insulation will be seen in offices, theaters, etc. There are some insulation products to meet and exceed thermal regulations in ground floor constructions, as well as solutions for separating and intermediate floors to prevent heat transfer between the upper and lower floors.
